Winter Solstice Ceremony
Black with Gold Spirit Board or Altar Cloth
- Black Tourmaline
- Tealights or ritual candles
- Red Cat's Eye Shells
- Amethyst
The Winter Solstice is the transition from the growing dark of Fall into the increasing light of Winter and Spring, the Solar New Year. It is a perfect time for reflection on the year, the processing and release of the past year's memories and unwanted energies, and looking through the past year to the light of the next.
Guidelines for performing this Ceremony: Place your Spirit Board on your altar or on a table where you can sit before it. Be mindful that the are is clear and it is safe to light your candles.
Put a Black Tourmaline stone on the Spirit Flower's center, marked (1). Black Tourmaline transmutes negative and unwanted energies, purifying and releaseing them. Reflect on the past year, making note of both the good and the bad. Work on releasing any unwanted energies and memories. Breathe in while thinking on the unwanted, exhale these negative energies until your heart feels unburdened.
Place your six candles, unlit, on the locations marked (2). These candles serve to represent the coming Light. Focus on the return of the Sun and consider all the new possibilities it brings, working to open yourself to these fresh energies.
Arrange six Red Cat's Eye shells on the locations marked (3), alternating from placing them with their tops up and their bottoms up. Alternating these shells helps to balance all energies, including the light and dark. Take a moment to honor this time of transition and renewal. Hold your hands out in front of you as thought they are scales. In one hand, feel the darkness of shorter days; in the other, the light of shorter nights. Allow yourself to be in the balance. Notice what both the Day and the Night have to offer you.
Place six Amethyst crystals on the locations marked (4). Reach out to your personal Source. Feel the support it offers you and your gratitude for it. Thank your Source for its help in the past year and ask for guidance in the coming months.
Focus on the candle at the top of the Spirit Flower. Set your intention for its flame as something you want to honor, acknowledge, or manifest in the coming months. When your intention is firm in your mind, light the candle and forus on its light. Working clockwise around your Sacred Stone Grid and one by one, set a new and unique intention for the following candles and light them in turn.
When all the candles are lit, bring yourself back to the balance, renewal, and possibilities of the New Year. Meditat on how your life can be different with these new energies. How could the coming months be best for you? Dedicate yourself to working towards your desired intentions in the light of the New Solar Year.
When you feel you are finished, extinguish each candle if they have not burned out.
