Fluorite for Birthing?

"I can't let it go" says my daughter as another pain shoots across her back. We are in the office of my healing arts center and I am showing her our newest shipment of fluorite natural stones. Other members of our family are setting up in the back parking lot for a mini fireworks display for her son. We didn't want to travel far for a fireworks display this year because she is very pregnant and we did not want to be stuck in traffic if she went into labor. It seems labor may be starting as she clutches the piece of dark purple fluorite she first picked up and says, again, "I can't let it go." Knowing how crystals call to specific people for specific reasons I tell her, "Then you need to keep it."
Some of you fluorite lovers out there will cringe when I say that fluorite is just not my thing. Many of my clients swear allegiance to the energies they feel when they carry it with them or wear jewelry made from it. I have helped clients incorporate this stone into Sacred Stone Grids that they ask me to help create for them. But, for me personally, I can't say it has ever really spoken to me. That is, until, I saw this flat of natural stones. When the stone vendor who stopped by our store opened the box for me to see I was amazed. I had never seen such beautiful dark purples in fluorite and many had natural formations such as cubes. For the first time fluorite spoke to me, at least the store owner side of me, and I knew I needed to buy this flat for the store.
But let's jump forward to the hospital where my husband and I are waiting to see if our daughter will be admitted for delivery or sent home. She had clutched her stone through the whole (hurried by family) firework display and made the decision that she needed to have these unfamiliar (her third baby) pains checked out. So here we were in the waiting room with time on our hands and I begin to wonder about the properties of this fluorite stone my daughter is still clutching. Because this stone has never spoken to me my knowledge of it is all book learned and does not stick in my head. But my husband had his phone with him and searched the internet for some answers.
We learned that fluorite is used to help clear confusion and to make decisions. It absorbs and neutralizes negative vibrations, increases concentration, and enhances intuition and connection to Spirit. It helps one to apply these intuitive hits to situations in our physical world. We began to understand why our daughter had grabbed this stone. We also soon learned that these different pains were nothing to worry about and that we would not have a new baby to hold this night. But while we wait, this grandmother plans to pick and hold her own stone from this flat of fluorite before they are all sold. Maybe now is the time for fluorite to speak to me.
